The truth about regular bouillon cubes from the grocery store

When we were younger, we always saw our mothers using bouillon cubes from the grocery store, without being really aware on how many toxic chemicals there were in the products, especially in the bouillon cubes. Later on in life, people in the health community were starting to get aware of the concept E-numbers (unnatural and inorganic substances) . The sad part is that the bouillon cubes were in every single dish our mothers made in the kitchen, but the amount of E-numbers that resided in the bouillon cubes from the grocery store was immensely high, and is still high up to this day.

The truth about E-numbers is that they can cause unwanted or unneeded side effects in the long-term. People have suffered from health problems because of the presence of E-numbers in various food products or supplements.

I introduce to you a much healthier version of bouillon powder!

Because it is alkaline vegan, this bouillon powder does not have the toxic elements you can find in household food products. It instead is much healthier and devoid of anything that can hurt you. There are a lot of healthy vegetables in this alkaline version of bouillon powder that will leave your tastebuds pleased!

It’s always possible to add other types of alkaline vegetables in your bouillon recipe, it is totally on what you prefer.

Even though im confident that all of my recipes are tasteful enough, I still prefer to add this unique bouillon powder, because it just gives something extra to the dishes. It’s more than just a finishing touch, in my personal opinion it is beyond that!

Ingredients:

  • 3 paprika’s chopped in pieces
  • 2 or 3 red onions chopped in pieces
  • 2 or 3 cayennepeppers preferably without the seeds
  • 1 large courgette with the skin chopped in small blocks
  • 1 fennel chopped in pieces
  • 1 small tray of fresh thyme in pieces
  • 1 small bush of parsley in pieces
  • A couple twigs of rosemary
  • 1-2 tablespoons of finely-stomped granules of pepper or grinded pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of allspice powder
  • 1 tablespoon of extra-smoked paprika powder
  • 2 or 3 tablespoons of himalaya salt (OPTIONAL)

What’s further needed:

  • Drying oven or stove on a temperature of max 75 degrees
  • Food processor
  • Baking trays or spacious oven trays

Preparation:

  • Place the vegetables and spices in a pre-heated oven at a temperature of 80 degrees (or you can do it until it’s 100 degrees) for approximately 8 till 10 hours, but the process can take a while. This process is needed in order for the vegetables to dry.
  • In this period, toss the vegetables regularly.
  • When the vegetables and spices feel a bit dried up, blend them in a food processor. It should look like mashed potatoes.
  • Then spread the mixture over the tray you’ve used and let it dry in the oven for a couple more hours.
  • Place the vegetables in the food processor again when they’ve dried up more.
  • Leave them a little longer (to dry) if needed.
  • At the end, add the mashed spices like the black pepper granules (1 tablespoon), allspice powder (1 tablespoon and OPTIONAL add 2 to 3 tablespoons of salt
  • Store your powder in a dry jar. Now you can start using using your newly-made vegan bouillon powder in any meal or soup!
